
Miami Dade edges USC Sumter to advance to District Final
The Miami Dade College men's soccer team scored twice late in the match to advance to the Southeast District Final.
The Sharks defeated USC Sumter 3-1 in the final game of the day at Eastern Florida State College. Miami Dade's Facundo Ochoa scored his second goal of the game with 10 minutes, 56 seconds remaining to give the Sharks a 2-1 lead. Alejandro Cumplidowould make it 3-1 with a long shot as time was running out.
The game began with USC Sumter getting a penalty kick a minute into the contest. Ignacio Gonzalez would convert the penalty kick and give the Fire Ants a quick 1-0 lead.
The game was physical to start as teh Fire Ants led early but Ochoa's first goal tied things up in the 26th minute. It would remain tied until the 81st minute when Kyle Reid found Ochoa for his second goal of the game. The Sharks had 14 corner kicks and outshot USC Sumter 21-9 in the contest.
Miami Dade College will play Eastern Florida State College in the final at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Admission to Orlando Health Stadium is $5 and you can watch the game live online at the EFSC Titans YouTube page.
