The Eastern Florida State College softball team dominated Hillsborough Community College in a conference doubleheader on Saturday.
The 18th-ranked Titans beat the Hawks in a Citrus Conference doubleheader, 8-0 and 13-0 Saturday. Both games went five innings.
In the first game the Titans struck early as Avery Velazquez hit a two-run double and Emma George followed with an RBI single as the Titans went up 3-0.
In the fourth inning, Ashley Corazzini and Avery Velazquez both had RBI singles and George crushed a two-run double. Jessica Camacho had an RBI single to give the Titans eight runs.
Avery Velazquez was 3-for-4, driving in four runs and scored twice while George also drove in three runs.
Luci Walters tossed the complete game shutout, allowing three hits and struck out five.
The Titans exploded in the second game scoring 13 times in four innings. Avery Velazquez continued to swing a hot bat as the FCSAA Player of the Week went 3-for-3 with three RBI and scored twice. Aracelis Jimenez went 2-for-2 with two walks, scoring all four times.
The top four in the lineup went 9-for-15 with eight runs scored and drove in six runs.
Alanna O'Brien picked up her first win of the season, tossing a one-hitter and struck out six in the complete game shutout.
Eastern Florida State College will host Polk State College Tuesday evening in a Citrus Conference doubleheader at Titan Softball Complex. The doubleheader will begin at 4 p.m. and admission is free.
