The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team got off to a fast start and went on to pick up a Citrus Conference win Wednesday at Titan Field House.
The 23rd-ranked Titans went on runs of 9-0 and 6-0 to lead 20-6 after the first quarter and went on to post the 82-51 win over St. Petersburg College. The victory was No. 14 for the Titans this season.
Freshman Jazelle Young got her fifth start of the season and got the Titans going early, scoring seven points in the quarter.
Karen Nimo came off the bench and had six points in the second quarter as the Titans went into halftime with a 37-23 lead. The lead would stay in double figures throughout the second half as Eastern Florida State College improved to 6-2 in the conference.
O'Neal went a perfect 6-for-6 from the floor and finished with a team-high 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Teammate E'Zaria Adams had 14 points while Karen Nimo scored 13 points off the bench. Young finished with seven points and nine rebounds.
Nikki Stanic had 11 points for St. Petersburg College.
Eastern Florida State College will be back at Titan Field House Saturday afternoon, hosting Santa Fe College in a Citrus Conference game at 2 p.m. It will be Alumni Game Day at Eastern Florida State College with giveaways, halftime shooting competition and more.
