The Eastern Florida State College men's soccer team scored late to tie Daytona State College in a battle of top 15 teams in the nation Sunday night at Orlando Health Stadium.
Down 1-0 with a minute and 30 seconds remaining, Luc Achermann-Stanfield hit a direct kick toward the goal at a breaking Rhys Shirley. Shirley headed the ball but Daytona State goalkeeper Dikola Douglas stopped the shot. The rebound came out and Zak Ford buried it in the back of the net.
It was Ford's first goal of the season as the defender had a strong game Sunday against the Falcons.
The two teams battled to a scoreless first half as Eastern Florida State College goalkeeper Mateo Garcia-Galan had a couple of big saves in the first half, keeping things tied.
With 14:10 remaining in the contest, Daytona State College's Hector Moreno turned and struck a kick that got past Garcia-Galan and into the corner of the net to give the Falcons the lead.
The No. 1-ranked Titans had a couple of good opportunities but could not capitalize.
The game was a physical one with six yellow cards and after the goal Shirley received a red card after a scuffle ensued.

Eastern Florida State College is now 6-0-1 overall and 0-0-1 in the conference. The Titans will travel to Texas to play Eastern Oklahoma State College on Friday and then Dallas College Richland on Sunday.
