Women's volleyball team sweeps Santa Fe Wednesday night
The Eastern Florida State College women's volleyball team extended their win streak to four matches with a straight sets win against Santa Fe Wednesday at Titan Field House.
The 15th-ranked Titans improved to 4-2 in the Citrus Conference with the 25-17, 25-19 and 25-16 and are now 13-6 on the season.
Eastern Florida State College got off to a strong start as sophomore Dominae Jordan had a couple of early kills and led way in the first set as Mariana Bueno Lopes, Riley Buddie and Sophia Iglesias all had aces and Bueno Lopes served up four straight points to make it 24-15. After a couple of Santa Fe points, Lesmary Raffucci had a big kill to finish off the first set.
The Titans got off to a big start as Raffucci had a strong service and Libby Ashline had a couple of kills during a 5-0 run to give EFSC a 10-4 lead. They continued to lead, taking a 22-17 lead but once again Santa Fe scored a couple points before Iglesias made a nice play for a point, then back-to-back Ashline blocks to finish the set.
Up 2-0, the Titans took off in the third set and had a 4-1 lead on an Emma Cook kill. They would continue to dominate the set as Jordan had three straight kills at one point to have an 18-6 lead. Raffucci had a kill that made it 20-8. But once again Santa Fe came back and made it 23-16 before a Camilla Canedo kill made it match point and the Titans would finish it off.
Jordan finished with 13 kills while Cherlialix Carmona, Raffucci and Emma Cook each had five kills in the win.
