Women's soccer team posts shutout, heads to Southeast District final
The Eastern Florida State College women's soccer team advanced to the Southeast District Final on Friday evening with a win over USC Lancaster.
The Titans, who are the No. 3 seed, defeated the Lancers 1-0 in the semifinals. Eastern Florida State College will play Daytona State College in the championship game Saturday at 5 p.m.
The game was scoreless for most of the way, but the Titans broke through with 13 minutes left in regulation.
Pheobe Wilson started the run with a nice pass to Jazira Gonzalez who made a nice cut and hit a beautiful cross. Aimee Longhurst broke for the net and it was timed perfectly as she put it in the back of the net. It was Longhurst's fifth goal of the season and a big one for the Titans.
The Titans outshot USC Lancaster 25-2 in the contest and it was Eastern Florida State College's fifth shutout of the season.
Saturday's final is at 5 p.m. and admission to Orlando Health Stadium is $5. You can also watch the game live online at the EFSC Titans YouTube page.
