
Men's basketball team defeated Indian River State College
The Eastern Florida State College won their eighth straight game on Wednesday night as they defeated Indian River State College in a conference road game.
The No. 21 ranked Titans won their fourth straight Citrus Conference game, topping the Pioneers 89-72.
Sophomore Emondrek Erkins-Ford hit a 3-pointer with nine minutes and 12 seconds left in the first half to tie the game 23-23. It started a run that saw the Titans head to the locker room up 10, 46-36. Erkins-Ford scored 16 points in the final nine minutes of the half.
It continued in the second half as they went on a 14-4 run to take a 20-point lead in the first six minutes of the half. Indian River State College cut the lead to 13 at one point with four minutes left but a quick 6-0 run as Corey Caulker, Fredy-Salam Sylla and Erkins-Ford each hit shots.
Erkins-Ford finished with 28 points, eight rebounds and seven blocks in the contest. The 28 points tied for his season-best while Caulker and Sylla each scored 15 points in the win.
Eastern Florida State College (15-2, 4-0) will host Daytona State College in a battle of top 25 teams on Saturday afternoon. The Falcons are 3-0 in the conference and are ranked sixth in the national poll. The men's game will tip off after the women's game on Saturday.
