Softball team earns sweep on the road

The Eastern Florida State College softball team continued their winning ways with a couple of wins at the College of Central Florida on Saturday.
The Titans, who have won six in a row and are now 15-11 in the Citrus Conference. On Saturday they defeated the Patriots 12-0 in five innings and then 9-1 in Game 2 for the sweep.
In Game 1, Avery Velazquez allowed just one hit in five shutout innings with three strikeouts to improve to 17-8 on the season.
Eastern Florida State College scored six times in the top of the second inning as Ashley Grieser had an RBI single, Isabel Otero also had an RBI single in the inning.
Otero and Avery Velazquez each drove in three runs in the game.
In Game 2 it was Luci Walters who also had a strong outing, allowing one run on four hits for her third win in a row. Walters is now 12-4.
The Titans scored one in the top of the third when Ashley Corazzini hit a sacrifice fly. In the fourth inning Corazzini singled scoring both Aracelis Jimenez and Avery Velazquez to make it 4-0. Jessica Merk followed with an RBI single and it was 5-0.
They would score one in the fifth and two in the seventh to take the win.
Merk went 4-for-4 with an RBI in the game while Corazzini had two hits and drove in three in the win.
It marks the 30th win of the season for the Titans this season.
Eastern Florida State College will travel to Daytona State College for a Citrus Conference doubleheader with the 10th ranked Falcons.
