The Eastern Florida State College men's soccer team won the FCSAA Region 8 Championship Sunday night at Miami Dade College.
The No. 8 Titans defeated fifth-ranked Miami Dade College 4-2 in the final.
The Sharks got on the board right before halftime as Edoardo Duchini scored with two minutes and 23 seconds left in the first half.
Joao Loureiro tied the game 10 minutes into the second half with his seventh goal of the season. Three and a half minutes later the Miami Dade goalkeeper got a red card that led to a penalty kick. Luc Achermann-Stanfield buried the penalty kick and the Titans had the lead.
In the 69th minute of the contest, Lars Bekman made it 3-1 with his first goal.
Miami Dade, playing a man down, would make it 3-2 in the 84th minute as Facundo Ochoa scored on an assist by Duchini.
Daiki Okada scored in the final minute of the game to make it 4-2.
The Titans will be the No. 1 seed for the district tournament next weekend at Eastern Florida State College. Miami Dade College will also advance to the tournament. The semifinals will be on Friday with the championship game scheduled for Saturday. The winner will advance to the NJCAA Division I National Tournament.
