Avery Velazquez, Softball player

Eastern Florida State College softball player Avery Velazquez helped the Titans to a perfect week and is the Orlando Health Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Feb. 9.

Velazquez was also named the FCSAA Division I Player of the Week for the first time. She was named the FCSAA Division I Pitcher of the Week earlier this season.

And she had a big week as Velazquez hit .750 in six games last week as the Titans went 6-0. Velazquez went 12-for-16 and was 4-for-4 in two different games during the week. The Ocoee, Florida native hit home runs against St. Johns River and Florida Gateway. Velazquez drove in nine runs and scored 10 times with three stolen bases.

Velazquez also went 5-0 last week on the mound with a 0.56 ERA, striking out 17 last week.
