
EFSC will host Southeast District Championships this weekend
Eastern Florida State College will host the Southeast District Championships this weekend at Orlando Health Stadium.
The champions from Region 8, Region 10 and Region 22 as well as the Region 8 runner-up will battle for a spot in the NJCAA Division I National Tournament beginning Friday.
Eastern Florida State College will be the No. 1 seed in the men's bracket after defeating Miami Dade College 4-2 in the final of the Region 8 Championship on Sunday. The Sharks will be the No. 3 seed as the runner-up.
The Titans, who are ranked No. 7 in the national poll, will play Region 22 champion Southern Union at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. Southern Union comes into the tournament 10-4-4 and has not lost in the past six games.
USC-Sumter is the Region 10 champion after defeating USC Lancaster 2-0 in the final. They are the No. 2 seed and will play Miami Dade College in the final game of the day on Friday, scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
The women's bracket will include No. 1 seed Daytona State College who is the Region 8 champion and will play Region 22 champion Southern Union in the semifinals Friday. Southern Union, who is 9-6-2 overall, beat Georgia Military College to advance to the district tournament. The game will be at 11 a.m.
The Titans are the No. 3 seed and will play the No. 2 seed USC-Lancaster who won the Region 10 title by defeating USC-Sumter 7-0 in the final. USC-Lancaster has won five in a row, outscoring opponents 31-0. The game will begin at 5 p.m.
The winners of Friday's semifinal games will play Saturday in the district championship at 5 p.m.
