The Eastern Florida State College softball team split a doubleheader with Seminole State College Saturday in Sanford.
The Titans, who are now 8-12 on the season, dropped the first game 9-1 in five innings but bounced back to win Game 2, 2-1.
After giving up a run in the bottom of the first inning, the Titans came back with a run as Rachel Lamoreaux walked, then Victoria Vasquez doubled to put runners on second and third. Danielle Branton hit a sacrifice fly to tie the game 1-1.
But Seminole State would score three in the third and five more in the fourth inning.
In Game 2, the Titans got on the board in a hurry as Kayla Domon hit a single and Molly Reid crushed a two-run home run. It was Reid's second home run of the season.
That was all starting pitcher Mandy Hedetniemi-Taylor needed as she allowed one run on five hits over seven innings. The freshman struck out seven and walked three in the win.
Eastern Florida State College will travel to St. Johns River State College Wednesday for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. Then St. Johns River will come to Titan Softball Complex for a doubleheader Thursday beginning at 4 p.m.
