Softball team opens regular season Friday at JUCO Kickoff Classic in Clearwater

The Eastern Florida State College softball team will open the regular season Friday with a pair of games in the 2022 Adidas JUCO Kickoff Classic at Eddie C. Moore Park in Clearwater.

The Titans will begin the season against Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College at 3 p.m. Friday at Field 6 of Complex 2-Central.

"We are excited to finally get on the field and see some other teams, we have a pretty good schedule," Eastern Florida State College softball coach Shelby Petik said. "We have a good mix of competitors this weekend and I am hoping to see a lot out of our team."

Eastern Florida State College will start freshman Mandy Hedetniema-Taylor in the season opener and head coach Petik plans to get all of the pitchers some work over the weekend.

The Titans will play South Georgia in the second game of the day beginning at 5:30 p.m. and also on Complex 2-Central but on Field 6.

Then on Saturday the Titans will play two more games, facing a couple of Florida teams. They will begin the day against St. Petersburg at 1:30 p.m. on Field 7 of Complex 2-Central.

Then the final game of the tournament for the Titans will be at 6:30 p.m. against Lake Sumter on Field 4 of Complex 1-East.

"We just really want to see where we are at overall, but we want to play well and win games," Petik said.

Admission to games at Eddie C. Moore Park is $10 per day and games will be broadcast live online at flosoftball.com
