Vermut has big day as men's golf team tied for 12th overall
The Eastern Florida State College men's golf team shot a 290 in the second round of the NJCAA Division I National Tournament in New Mexico.
The Titans are tied for 12th place overall after two rounds at the Rockwind Community Links course in Hobbs, New Mexico.
Sophomore Adam Vermut had his best round of the season on Wednesday, shooting a 5-under 66 as he made the turn even par and then shot 5-under on the back nine including an eagle on the par 5 14th hole. He did not have a bogey in the round to go with three birdies. Vermut is tied for 16th overall.
Teammate Nick Miller shot a 1-over par 72 in the second round with four birdies and five bogeys. Bryan Hernandez and Hugo Griesheimer each shot 76 while Masen McKain had a 77.
"Tough hole locations and plenty of wind today. If we can get some better balance with the scoring, we can move up," Eastern Florida State College men's tennis coach Jamie Howell said.
McLennan Community College takes over first place at 2-over with New Mexico Junior College and Central Alabama CC tied for second at 5-over.
