Men's golf team in second at the Southeast District Championship
The Eastern Florida State College men's golf team is in second place after the first round of the NJCAA Southeast District Championship in Union Grove, Alabama on Sunday.
The Titans shot a 301 in the first round at the Cherokee Hills Country Club and are in second place overall, six strokes behind leader Central Alabama. Wallace State is in third place.
Sophomore Bryan Hernandez is tied for third place overall after shooting an even par 72. Teammate Adam Vermut is at 1-over par and in sixth place. Hugo Griesheimer shot a 74 and is 2-over par. Nick Miller shot an 82 and Masen McKain had an 83.
"A good day by Hernandez, Vermut and Greishemer. With Campbell (Kennedy) out due to an emergency appendectomy Saturday, awesome job by Hugo stepping in at the last moment," Eastern Florida State College men's golf coach Jamie Howell said. "It was a tough day to play and again more balance and we are right in it."
The second round of the tournament will be Monday morning.
