Men's golf team shoots up to second place at Panther Invitational
The Eastern Florida State College men's golf team had a big second day to move into second place at the Panther Invitational on Monday at Duran Golf Club.
The Titans shot a 290 in the second round of the tournament and are at 591. Barry University is leading the event by shooting a 287 and is 1-under for the tournament.
"Good solid rounds by John and Matt. Good comeback by Ryan," Eastern Florida State College men's golf coach Jamie Howell said. "We will need a good push Tuesday and if we can feed off of today and yesterday it is doable. Barry and Keiser are very good and we will do well to take care of our own business and see how it plays out."
Matt Gauntlett shot a 2-under 70 Monday and is tied for third overall heading into the final round. Teammate John Houchin shot one of the best rounds of the day, shooting 3-under 69 and is in sixth place overall.
Drew Lanier shot a 75 and is tied for 20th overall while Robert Greninger shot a 76 and Murphy Allard finished with a 77.
The white team is in 13th place after two rounds. Brandon Boncore is tied for 20th after shooting a 75 on Monday. Teammate Ryan McMillan shot a 72 and is tied for 29th overall.
The final round of the tournament will be a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
