Men's golf team places second, Greninger wins individual title
The Eastern Florida State College men's golf team tied for second at the Trojan Invitational at Lagoon Park in Montgomery, Alabama Tuesday.
Freshman Robert Greninger was the individual medalist, shooting 1-under 71 in the second round to finish 4-under 140 for the two-day tournament. It was Greninger's first collegiate event.
"Awesome job by Robert, first event and notches the win – well done," Eastern Florida State College men's golf coach Jamie Howell said.
Teammate Matt Gauntlett shot 2-under 70 to place tied for seventh overall with a 144. Drew Lanier shot even par 72 for the second straight day and also finished tied for seventh.
John Houchin shot a 76 and Brandon Boncore had a 78 for the Titans.
Host Central Alabama won the event, shooting a 282 in the final round for a 569 for the tournament. The Titans finished second with a 578 along with Calhoun Community College.
Good solid play all around by Gauntlett, Greninger and Lanier," Howell said. "Again, we just need a bit better balance from all five players when it comes to scoring."
Eastern Florida State College will finish the fall season at the McDonough Cup in Orlando on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1.
