Men's golf team in fifth at Innisbrook event
The Eastern Florida State College men's golf team is tied for fifth place after two rounds at the Invite at Innisbrook at Copperhead Golf Course.
Keiser University is leading the tournament after two strong rounds on Thursday. The Titans shot a 301 in the first round and then a 293 in the second round and are tied with Wayland Baptist.
John Houchin is tied for 21st after shooting rounds of 73 and 74 while Matt Gauntlett is tied for 27th with rounds of 75 and 73. Brandon Boncore shot a 79 in the first round but bounced back with 1-under par 70 in the second round.
Drew Lanier shot two rounds of 76 while Murphy Allard had rounds of 77 and 79.
"It was a long, tough day," Eastern Florida State College men's golf coach Jamie Howell said. "Solid play by John Houchin and Matt Gauntlett, the putter just did not cooperate for both of them. We need to do a better job on the greens and we can move up tomorrow."
Eastern Florida State College will tee off in the final round of the tournament on Tuesday morning.
