
Wednesday's softball game to be shown live on WEFS-TV
The Eastern Florida State College softball team is preparing for a big week of conference games.
The Titans will begin with a conference doubleheader against Indian River State College who is currently in first place at 9-1 with the one blemish coming against the Titans.
Wednesday's doubleheader will begin at 4 p.m. and will be broadcast live on WEFS-TV which is channel 9 or 455 on Spectrum, 68 on DirecTV, 30 on Dish and 68 on AT&T Uverse.
Indian River begins the week fifth in the state with a 2.53 team ERA. Devan Ryan leads the state in ERA with a 0.46 in 45.1 innings. Indian River and Eastern Florida are 1-2 in hits allowed in the state as the Pioneers have allowed 190 hits while the Titans have allowed 192.
The Titans begin the week 4-6 in the conference and are 16-17 overall, just two wins away from matching last season's win total.
Then on Friday the Titans will host South Florida State College for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. at Titan Softball Complex. Eastern Florida State College has won all four of the meetings this season. South Florida State College is looking for its first conference win.
On Saturday afternoon, the Titans will host Miami Dade College in a big doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. The Sharks are in second place, beginning the week 7-3.
The Sharks begin the series hitting .333 as a team which is fifth-best in the state and Raissa Bianco is fifth in the state, hitting .464.
Eastern Florida State College's Kayla Domon is hitting .431 this season with a team-high 33 stolen bases which is fourth in the state. The 33 stolen bases is second-best in the past couple of decades for the Titans.
Teammate Mandy Hedetniemi-Taylor is tied for eighth in the state with 89 strikeouts and has a 1.95 ERA, which is in the top 10 in the state. Hedetniemi-Taylor has had two 10-plus strikeout games this season and is 11-4 on the season.
