The Eastern Florida State College softball team split a Southern Conference doubleheader with Miami Dade Saturday at Titan Softball Complex.
The Titans defeated Miami Dade 3-2 in the first game and then lost the second game 6-1. Eastern Florida State College is now 13-15 overall and 1-3 in the Southern Conference.
In Game 1, Mandy Hedetniemi-Taylor had another strong start as the two teams were scoreless until the Titans struck in the bottom of the fifth inning. With runners on second and third, Molly Reid stroked a two-run single to give the Titans a 2-0 lead.
Miami Dade would tie the game and in the bottom of the seventh inning, Makenzie Fore drove in the game-winning run. Fore finished 2-for-2 with a walk and a run scored.
Hedetniemi-Taylor picked up the win, allowing two runs on six hits and struck out two.
In Game 2, Miami Dade took advantage of a couple of miscues to earn the split. Victoria Vasquez went 2-for-3 in the game.
The Titans will travel to South Florida State College for a doubleheader Wednesday at 5 p.m. before hosting Indian River State College Saturday, March 26 for a doubleheader at 1 p.m.
