Women's soccer team home for big conference games this week
The Eastern Florida State College women's soccer team will have a couple of key conference games this week as they battle for the top spot in the standings.
The No. 17 ranked Titans are 2-1 in the conference and will host Polk State College on Monday and then Miami Dade College on Friday.
Monday night the Titans will play Polk State College, who are looking for their first conference win. Polk State College led the Titans at halftime in the first meeting but the trio of Tiggi Gent, Lili Baidoe and Aimee Longhurst each scored in the second half to give the Titans a win.
Gent has scored five goas in the past five games while Baidoe had a hat trick in a 4-0 win over Southwestern Illinois College on Oct. 5. Gent and Baidoe each have six goals this season for Eastern Florida State College.
Polk State College is led by Noemi Casique who has eight goals this season.
Then on Friday night the Titans will host No. 14 Miami Dade College at 6 p.m. looking to even the season series. In the first meeting at Miami Dade, the Sharks came away with the 3-2 victory in an exciting back-and-forth contest. Gent came close to tying the match with two minutes remaining as her shot went off the crossbar.
Miami Dade's Julia Gurgel had two goals in that game and leads the team with 10 on the season which is third in the conference.
