Women's soccer team on a roll heading into national tournament

The Eastern Florida State College women's soccer team is back in the NJCAA Division I National Tournament for the 13th straight season.

But the road was not an easy one for this group who rebounded from a lost in the regular-season final to go on a three-game win streak to punch their ticket to the national tournament.

"We had three losses and a few weeks ago things didn't look very promising for us, but the girls got together and have had a good stretch through the postseason and I am proud of them for working their way into a seeded spot," Eastern Florida State College women's soccer coach Scott Carswell said.

Eastern Florida State College has been tested this season with games against six ranked teams this season. And since the loss to Daytona State College, the Titans have not allowed a goal while averaging five goals per game in the postseason.

Laura Di Mascio has been a big part of that as the midfielder has four goals and five assists in the three postseason games.

The women's team will open the tournament against Barton Community College who is the No. 9 seed and is 14-2-3 this season and is making their second straight national tournament appearance. The Cougars are led by sophomore Nina Norshie who is tied for third in the nation with 22 goals in 19 games this season.

It will be the first time that EFSC and Barton will meet in women's soccer.

Fans can watch the games live online at the NJCAA Network for $12 per day or $20 for the championship pass which does not include semifinals and finals which will be shown on ESPN+.
