Women's soccer team is No. 4 seed for national tournament
The Eastern Florida State College women's soccer team will be the No. 4 seed for the NJCAA Division I National Tournament beginning Sunday in Wichita, Kansas.
The Titans, who are making their 13th straight appearance in the national tournament, are in Pool D with No. 5 seed Tyler Junior College and No. 9 seed Barton Community College. Eastern Florida State College won the Southeast District title to punch their ticket to the tournament and are 11-3-1 this season.
"I am happy with the seeding, it is a bit of a surprise. Tyler is a good team and we thought they may get it but it is a tough group and we have our work cut out for us," Eastern Florida State College women's soccer coach Scott Carswell said.
Tyler Junior College lost in the South Central District Final to Hill College and comes in as the No. 5 seed at 16-1-2. They defeated the Titans in Tyler earlier this season 2-1.
Barton comes in as the No. 9 seed and received an at-large bid after losing in the Plains District Championship to Cowley County Community College who is the No. 11 seed in the tournament. The Cougars are 14-2-3 on the season.
The Titans will open the national tournament on Sunday afternoon at 6:30 p.m. EST against Barton.
