Former Titan Bunny Shaw helps Jamaica qualify for 2023 World Cup

Former Eastern Florida State College women's soccer standout Bunny Shaw scored two goals and had an assist to lead Jamaica past Haiti 4-0 in a Concacaf W Championship group stage play.

Shaw who is the captain of the Raggae Girlz, punched their ticket to the World Cup for the second straight season on Tuesday. The team finished group play with a 2-1-0 record to finish in second place in Group A.
 
Jamaica defeated Mexico 1-0 in its opening match on July 4. Shaw scored three times in the group stage to help the Raggae Girlz clinch a spot in the 2023 FIFA World Cup that will be played in Australia and New Zealand.

Jamaica will now play Canada on Thursday in the semifinals of the Concacaf W Championship. The winner will advance to next Monday's final against the winner of the United States and Costa Rica. The loser will play in the third-place match Monday.
 
The champion will qualify for both the 2024 Paris Olympics and the inaugural Concacaf W Gold Cup (CWGC), to be held in 2024.

The runner-up and third-place teams will also square off in a Concacaf Olympic play-in series, scheduled for September 2023. The winner of that play-in series will also qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics and the 2024 CWGC.

Jamaica is one of the 15 teams already qualified: Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, China, Philippines, Vietnam, Sweden, Spain, France, Denmark, United States, Canada and Costa Rica.
