Women's soccer team opens conference season Saturday on road
The fifth-ranked Eastern Florida State College women's soccer team will open the Region VIII Conference on the road Saturday night.
The Titans will travel to Daytona Beach to play Daytona State College at 7 p.m. Eastern Florida State College will come into the match 1-1 with two ties as they have faced some of the best teams in the nation in the beginning of the season.
The Titans come into the matchup with six goals in four games while allowing 0.64 goals per game. Freshmen Laura Cetina and Courtney Jade Butlion each have two goals this season to pace the Titans attack.
Daytona State College is 2-1 overall and 1-0 in the Region 8 Conference after defeating Polk State College 2-1 on Wednesday night. The Falcons are led by Elena Diaz Trujillo who has scored five times in three games. Teammate Hannah Henn has scored four times this season.
"Daytona State College always has a good team and every game with them seems to be a good battle," Eastern Florida State College women's soccer coach Scott Carswell said. "The conference seems to get better every season and we are excited to open the conference season this weekend."
