Women's soccer team faces Salt Lake City CC in battle of top five teams
In a rematch of last year's NJCAA National Tournament semifinal, the Eastern Florida State College women's soccer team will face No. 2 Salt Lake City Community College in Utah on Saturday afternoon.
The women's team is coming off a tough loss in overtime to No. 4 Snow College who was also in the national tournament semifinals last season. Now they turn their attention to a Salt Lake City CC team that ended their season last year.
It will be the season opener for Salt Lake City CC who went 15-2-1 last season, losing to Tyler Junior College in the national tournament finals.
The Titans returned most of the starting unit from last season and rebounded on Thursday after falling behind early to Snow College as sophomore Paula Garrido tied things up on a penalty kick in the second half that ultimately sent the game to overtime.
Garrido had seven goals in 11 starts last season for the Titans and is one of the leaders of the veteran group this season.
Saturday's game will kick off at 3:30 p.m. EST in Herriman, Utah and will be shown pay per view by Salt Lake City CC.
