Baseball team tops Seminole State College
The Eastern Florida State College baseball team defeated Seminole State College in a Citrus Conference game Thursday at Bruce Bochy Field.
The Titans won their fourth straight game on Thursday, beating Seminole State College 5-1 to improve to 11-9-1 overall and 3-4 in the conference.
Starting pitcher Zaylen Perry made just his second start of the season and went a season-high six shutout innings, striking out five and allowed just four hits.
While Perry was holding the Raiders at bay, the Titans took the lead in the second inning as Adrian Dominguez walked and scored on Laheim Bell's sacrifice fly. They would add another run in the fifth inning as Bell singled and scored on Ryan Cerrone's RBI single.
The Titans added three more in the in the eighth inning as Dominguez ripped a two-run double and then scored on a Brady Strelitz sacrifice fly.
Up 5-0, Seminole State scored once in the ninth inning, but Anthony Cordero finished the game for the save.
Cerrone finished with two hits and Dominguez extended his hit streak to six games with the double.
Eastern Florida State College will travel to Seminole State College for a doubleheader on Friday afternoon, beginning at noon.
