Baseball team falls to Palm Beach State College
The Eastern Florida State College baseball team lost a tight game with Palm Beach State College Wednesday afternoon at Bruce Bochy Field.
The Titans lost 4-3 Wednesday and are now 4-3-1 on the season. Palm Beach State College improves to 6-1.
Eastern Florida State College got on the board in the bottom of the first inning as Ryan Cerrone is hit by a pitch and scored on an RBI single from Kevin Smith.
Palm Beach State College took the lead in the third inning as Michael Vazquez hit an RBI single and then scored the second run on a Payton Boines RBI single.
Up 2-1, the Panthers would make it 4-1 with a two-run home run by Vazquez in the fifth inning.
The Titans would get one back in the bottom of the fifth inning as Hector Mangual walked and would score on Mike Losier's RBI single.
Eastern Florida State College would make it 4-3 in the sixth inning as Luke Lambert led off with a double and scored on Ryan Cerrone's groundout.
David Morrissey relieved starter Jesus Portillo and went five-plus innings, allowing just the two-run home run and struck out three for the Titans.
Eastern Florida State College will travel to Polk State College Thursday for a 5 p.m. contest before returning to Bruce Bochy Field on Saturday for a doubleheader against Central Pointe Academy.
