Baseball team hosts South Florida State College Wednesday on WEFS-TV
The Eastern Florida State College baseball team will host South Florida State College Wednesday evening in the opener of a three-game series that will be broadcast live on WEFS-TV.
The Titans and Panthers enter this week's three-game series tied for second place in the Southern Conference. Game 1 will be at 5 p.m. at Bruce Bochy Field and can be seen live locally on WEFS-TV, which is channel 9 or 455 on Spectrum, 68 on DirecTV, 30 on Dish and 68 on AT&T Uverse.
Eastern Florida State College is now 20-21-1 on the season and has won three straight and four of the past five games. The Titans won last week's conference series with Indian River State College, taking both ends of a doubleheader on Saturday.
Freshman Trey Jackson will make his second start for Eastern Florida State College but has a 2.76 ERA in 17 appearances this season with 31 strikeouts in 32 2/3 innings.
Eastern Florida State College is ninth in the country in stolen bases with 118 as a team. Freshman Dalton Robinson is leading the state with 26 stolen bases while teammate Gabriel Cruz has 19 which is fourth best in Region 8.
South Florida State College is fifth in the state in runs scored as a team this season, scoring 308 runs in 45 games and is third in hits with 453.
The Panthers won the first series this season, so the Titans are looking to get even in a tight Southern Conference race for a postseason berth.
Wednesday's game will begin at 5 p.m. at Bruce Bochy Field. Admission is free and the game will be shown on the Eastern Florida State College YouTube page.
