Baseball team shuts out South Florida State College
The Eastern Florida State College baseball team defeated South Florida State College in a Southern Conference game Friday at Bruce Bochy Field.
The Titans used a big fourth inning to defeat the Panthers 10-0 in eight innings to even the three-game series with Game 3 scheduled for Saturday at 1 p.m.
Up 1-0, the Titans would score five times in the fourth inning as Gino Torrente, Gabriel Cruz, Jason Blackstone and Drew Cavanaugh each drove in runs in the inning.
Drew Stubbs hit a sacrifice fly in the seventh inning to take a 7-0 lead. Stubbs would drive in two runs with a single in the eighth inning and then Jesus Santana ended the game with an RBI single.
With the offense clicking, starting pitcher KC Swords was on top of his game, tossing six shutout innings with nine strikeouts to pick up the win.
Eastern Florida State College improved to 15-16-1 overall and 2-3 in the conference.
