Baseball team tops ASA College in 13 innings
The Eastern Florida State College baseball team pulled out a thriller on Monday afternoon at Bruce Bochy Field, defeating ASA College 7-6 in 13 innings.
Dalton Robinson hit a sacrifice fly in the 13th inning scoring Drew Cavanaugh with the winning run with one out.
ASA College took the early lead with two runs in the first inning off starter Grayson Adams. The Titans battled back in the third inning as Ryne Wallace, Andy Valdes and Don McKnight III all scored in the inning.
In the fourth inning the Titans would score two more times as Ivan Zambrano doubled and would later score. Ryne Wallace singled and would steal two bases to give the Titans a 5-2 lead.
ASA College tied the game in the seventh inning to ultimately send it to extra innings.
ASA would threaten in the 10th inning, loading the bases with nobody out but Trey Jackson got out of the jam without giving up a run.
In the 11th inning ASA would take the lead as a run scores on a hit off the pitcher, but the Titans would answer in the bottom of the 11th inning.
In the 13th inning the Titans would finish off ASA College to improve to 14-15-1 on the season.
Eastern Florida State College will begin a Southern Conference three-game series with South Florida State College this week. The Titans will be on the road Wednesday, then host South Florida State at 5 p.m. on Friday before wrapping up the series Saturday in Avon Park.
