Errors prove costly as Titans fall in series finale
Errors cost the Eastern Florida State College baseball team a shot at a series win against Indian River State College Saturday.
The Titans lost the third game of the series 15-5 in eight innings behind seven errors that led to nine unearned runs to lose two of three in the opening weekend series of Southern Conference play.
Back-to-back doubles by Drew Cavanaugh and Drew Stubbs put the Titans on the board in the top of the first inning. But a couple of errors led to three runs for Indian River in the bottom of the second inning.
Down 4-1, the Titans scored twice in the fifth inning as Zach Taylor hit a two-run single with the bases loaded to cut the lead to 4-3.
Indian River State College got a run in the sixth, three in the seventh and the Titans scored twice in the top of the eighth inning on Jesus Santana's first home run of the season.

The Titans allowed nine unearned runs in the game.
Starting pitcher Brian Walters left the game in the second inning after getting hit with a line drive in his arm.
The Titans will host ASA College Monday at 1 p.m. before starting a three-game series with South Florida State College on Wednesday.
