Sunshine State Elite Academy
The Eastern Florida State College baseball team won a pair of games against the Sunshine State Elite Academy Friday afternoon at Bruce Bochy Field.
The Titans won the first game 7-5 and the second game 8-3 in the seven-inning doubleheader.
In Game 1, KC Swords took the mound and had a strong outing, allowing two earned runs over six innings, striking out six hitters to pick up the win.
While Swords was pitching well, the offense got off to a quick start as Gabriel Cruz led off with a single and would score on Jason Blackstone's double. Blackstone would later score on Drew Cavanaugh's sacrifice fly.
Down 3-2 in the fourth inning, Drew Stubbs crushed a ball over the wall for his sixth home run of the season. It would tie the game 3-3.
Cavanaugh would hit a two-run shot in the fifth inning and Stubbs would drive in two on a single in the sixth inning. Stubbs, Cruz and Blackstone each had two hits in the game.
In the second game Brian Walters took the mound and was also good, allowing two runs over five innings, striking out five for the win.
The Titans would open things up early, scoring five times in the second inning highlighted by a two-run double by Jesus Santana.
Cruz had three hits in the game and scored three times.
Eastern Florida State College will host Rollins College JV Monday at 3 p.m. at Bruce Bochy Field.
