Baseball team has big day in win against ASA Miami
The Eastern Florida State College baseball team tied a program record Tuesday night against ASA Miami Tuesday night at Bruce Bochy Field on the Melbourne campus.
The Titans scored 11 runs in the fourth inning, tying the mark for most runs scored in an inning as Eastern Florida State College defeated ASA Miami 12-2 in seven innings. In 2017 the Titans scored 11 runs in the fifth inning against Daytona State College.
ASA Miami struck first in the second inning as David Munoz hit a two-run home run to put the Silver Storm up 2-0.
The Titans struck back in the bottom of the second inning as Drew Stubbs crushed a solo home run to left field to cut the lead in half. It was Stubbs' third home run of the season.
Still trailing 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Titans sent 15 batters to the plate in the inning, scoring 11 times. Stubbs, Ryne Wallace and Don McKnight all scored twice in the inning.
Andy Valdes hit a single and a double in the game and Zach Taylor had two singles in the contest.
Starting pitcher Nick Feretic tossed six strong innings, striking out six to pick up the win. Gabriel Delvalle pitched a scoreless seventh innings to wrap up the win.
Eastern Florida State College, who is now 5-4-1 overall, will host Palm Beach State College Wednesday afternoon at 4 p.m. Admission to games at Bruce Bochy Field are free.
