Baseball team falls on the road
The Eastern Florida State College baseball team saw its three-game win streak snapped on the road Tuesday afternoon.
The Titans fell to Palm Beach State College 5-2 and are now 3-4-1 on the season.
Eastern Florida State College starting pitcher Nick Feretic pitched five scoreless innings striking out six in the no-decision.
The game was scoreless through five innings, but Palm Beach State College broke through for four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take the lead.
Eastern Florida State College would strike back for two runs in the top of the seventh inning as Drew Stubbs led off with a single, then Dalton Robinson singled to get the inning started. A sacrifice bunt by Ivan Zambrano moved the runners to second and third. Don McKnight III drove in the first run of the day for the Titans on a sacrifice fly and then Andy Valdes singled to score Robinson and cut the lead to 4-2.
But the Titans could not get any closer and Palm Beach State added a run in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Robinson finished with two hits and a stolen base in the game.
Eastern Florida State College will be back at Bruce Bochy Field Friday afternoon for a game against Hillsborough Community College. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. and admission to baseball games on the Melbourne campus is free.
