Baseball team wins two against ASA Miami Saturday

Eastern Florida State College
The Eastern Florida State College baseball team swept ASA Miami in a doubleheader Saturday at Bruce Bochy Field on the Melbourne campus.
The Titans defeated the Silver Storm 7-3 and 7-1 to improve to 3-3-1 and have won three straight games.
In Game 1, freshman Brian Walters tossed seven strong innings, allowing just one hit and retired nine straight during the five-inning outing. Walters picked up the victory, striking out two hitters.
Offensively, Gabriel Cruz had a big day at the plate with three hits, scored three times and drove in a run.
And he got things started in the first inning with a single, advanced to second on Jason Blackstone's sacrifice bunt. Then scored on Drew Cavanaugh's RBI double.
Then in the third inning he singled, then Drew Cavanaugh singled and both would score on Zachary Taylor's two-run single. Drew Stubbs would then single and both would score n Don McKnicght III's double.
Up 5-2 in the sixth inning the Titans would add to the lead as Cruz and Valdes would both score to give the Titans a 7-2 lead. ASA Miami would score once in the seventh before Ridge Skarbeck would get the strikeout to end the game.
In Game 2, freshman KC Swords was just as strong, striking out seven and allowing one run over five innings.
Down 1-0 in the bottom of the second inning, the Titan tied things up when Taylor hit a triple and scored on a sacrifice fly by Valdes.
The game would remain tied until the fifth inning when Dalton Robinson doubled, stole third base and scored on an error.
Then in the sixth inning the Titans would score five times as they batted around in the inning.
Gino Torrente went 2-for-4 in the win.
Eastern Florida State College will travel to Palm Beach State College on Tuesday for a 2 p.m. game before returning to Bruce Bochy Field Friday for a 1 p.m. game against Hillsborough Community College. Friday will be the first of a four-game homestand.
