Castillo leads baseball team past ASA Miami
Eastern Florida State College sophomore Paul Castillo came up with the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the ninth inning and delivered a 5-4 win for the Titans.
The right fielder hit a ball to shallow left-center field that left fielder Peter Baldrich dove and caught, but it was enough for Cristian Sanjurjo to score the winning run against ASA Miami Thursday night at Bruce Bochy Field.
Castillo also had two triples and a single in the game and is hitting .405 over the past 10 games.
Castillo's first triple led to the first run of the game as Alvaro Valdez doubled to score Castillo in the second inning. Valdez and Kevin Silva would also score as the Titans took an early 3-0 lead.
But ASA Miami would strike for two runs in the top of the third inning and tied the game 3-3 in the fifth inning.
Castilo singled and scored the fourth run of the game in the sixth inning and Cam Weinberger came into the game and pitched the rest of the way, picking up the win. The freshman allowed one run over three innings of work for his third win of the season.
With the win, the Titans improved to 20-20 on the season and will host Keiser University JV team at Bruce Bochy Field Friday. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m.
