Women's cross country team places 28th at FSU Invite

The Eastern Florida State College women's cross country team placed 28th overall Friday morning in the FSU Invite at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee.

The 15th-ranked Titans were led by freshman Marlie Gonzalez who finished the 5K in 20 minutes, 31.4 seconds. Amelia Shephard had a season-best run on Friday, finishing in 21:18.5 while Isabella Narvaez ran a 21:35.9 and Sierra Kohler also had her best run of the year, finishing in 22:24.1. Lauren Deal finished in 23:11.

"Very happy with the girls without Rachel who is the team leader, they ran well," Eastern Florida State College women's cross country coach Doug Butler said. "It got a bit warmer for the women's race but as a team we did better than we did in Alabama which is good."

Eastern Florida State College will turn to the FSC Invite at Holloway Park in Lakeland on Friday, Oct. 13.
