Women's tennis team places 10th in national tournament

Women's tennis team places 10th in national tournament

The Eastern Florida State College women's tennis team finished 10th overall at the NJCAA Division I National Tournament in Tyler, Texas.

Gloria Barcaro lost in the No. 3 singles consolation finals on Wednesday to wrap up the week for the Titans who finished with 19.5 points in the tournament.

Barcaro played ABAC's Yazmin Barrios who was the No. 5 seed in the tournament. Barcaro fell 8-4 in the match.

The Titans had two consolation bracket champions and Luisa Renovales became just the fourth EFSC women's tennis player to make it to the semifinals in singles as the freshman lost to Cowley College's Camila Neyra in the semifinals.

Simona Karlsson Hantzis won the consolation bracket final at No. 2 singles while the doubles team of Emma Sanchez and Barcaro won the consolation final at No. 2 doubles.

Hillsborough Community College won the NJCAA Division I title, topping Cowley College by three points and host Tyler Junior College placed third. St. Petersburg was fourth overall and the State College of Florida-Manatee was ninth.
