Women's tennis team hosts No. 1 Hillsborough in Region 8 matchup Thursday

The Eastern Florida State College women's tennis team will host Hillsborough Community College in the Region 8 opener Thursday.

The Titans come into the match as the No. 10 team in the ITA national rankings and have won their first two matches of the season.

Hillsborough begins the region season as the No. 1 team in the nation and comes to Titan Tennis Center for the first match of the season. Arina Gamretkaia is ranked second nationally in singles while Ita Habekovic and Alicia Gomez are eighth and ninth nationally.

Eastern Florida State College's Emma Sanchez is 2-0 this season at No. 1 singles while Simona Karlsson is unbeaten at No. 2 singles while Gloria Barcaro is 2-0 at No. 3 singles.

The match will begin at noon at the Titan Tennis Center on the Melbourne campus.
