Women's tennis team loses conference match on road

Women's tennis team loses conference match on road

The Eastern Florida State College women's tennis team lost a tight Region 8 Conference match on the road Tuesday.

The Titans lost to the State College of Florida-Manatee 5-4.

The No. 3 doubles team of Paige Noble Lucas and Luisa Renovales Salazar teamed up to pick up the 8-3 win.

Down 2-1 heading into the singles matches, No. 1 Kanna Kobayakawa defeated Carlotta Gascon Martinez in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2 to tie things up. But lost at No. 2 and 3 singles.

Simona Karlsson picked up the 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles and then Noble Lucas won the first set 6-4, but lost the second set 3-6 to force a third set tiebreaker, which Noble Lucas won.

The Titans will play St. Petersburg College Thursday afternoon at Titan Tennis Center. The Region 8 Conference match is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
