Women's golf team in third place at Southeast District Championships
The Eastern Florida State College women's golf team is in third place after the first round of the NJCAA Ladies Southeast District Championship in South Carolina.
The Titans are in third place, just one stroke behind Daytona State College. Eastern Florida State College shot a 313 while defending champion Seminole State College is leading after shooting a 303.
Sophomore Morela Boyd shot one of her best rounds of the spring, firing a 75 and is tied for third place on Monday afternoon while teammate Sarah Knitter finished with a 77 and is tied for sixth. Gracie Doke is tied for ninth overall with an 80 while Savannah Hawthorne and Jasmine Yang each shot an 81 and are tied for 12th.
"It was a tough day on a tough golf course. Good job by Morela after a rough start," Eastern Florida State College women's golf coach Jamie Howell said. "We have some more information about the course and some cleaner play tomorrow, the opportunity is right in front of us."
The final round will be Tuesday morning at River Falls Plantation in Duncan, South Carolina.
