
EFSC women's golf team in second at Seminole State event
The Eastern Florida State College women's golf team shot a 309 in the first round of the Seminole State Fall Warm Up Saturday in Sanford.
The Titans are in second place, five strokes behind host Seminole State who shot a 304 in the first round.
Freshman Sarah Knitter shot a 76 in her first collegiate round to lead the Titans with teammate Gabrielle Fernandez shot a 77 while Morela Boyd and Savannah Hawthorne each shot 78. Gracie Doke had an 85 in her first collegiate round.
"The team hung in there well, we had a few slipups that cost us but a much better round 1 that a year ago," Eastern Florida State College women's golf coach Jamie Howell said.
Florida Southern is one stroke behind the Titans and in third place with Palm Beach Atlantic is in fourth place.
The final round of the tournament will be on Sunday.
