Women's basketball team home today, will celebrate sophomores and title
The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team will host Hillsborough Community College in the final home game of the season for the Titans.
The Titans, who are ranked seventh in the NJCAA Division I poll, have clinched the Citrus Conference regular season title for the third straight season and come into the matchup 19-0 in the conference and have won the past 43 conference games.
Eastern Florida State College has won the first two meetings this season and have won 23 games in a row.
The Hawks are second in the conference with a 12-7 record and is coming off a win against Daytona State College. Hillsborough's Masiel Reyes is leading Region 8 in scoring, averaging 22.9 points per game in 27 games this season. The guard has scored 20-plus points in three of the past five games.
Eastern Florida State College's Amelia Hassett is third in scoring with a 19.9 points per game and leads the state in rebounds per game with 13.1. She also leads Region 8 in 3-point percentage, shooting 41.9 percent.
The women's basketball team will honor the seven sophomores during halftime of their 2 p.m. game and then will celebrate winning the conference title by cutting down the nets after the men's game.
