Women's basketball team beats St. Petersburg in conference game on WEFS-TV
The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team won their 20th game of the season Saturday afternoon at Titan Field House.
The No. 9 ranked Titans defeated St. Petersburg College 80-31 in a Citrus Conference game to improve to 20-3 overall and 15-0 in the conference. It was the 19th straight win for the women's basketball program in a game on WEFS-TV.
Eastern Florida State College scored 15 straight points to take a 17-2 lead in the first quarter before St. Petersburg scored a couple of baskets to finish the quarter.
The second quarter saw Eastern Florida State College extend the lead and go into halftime leading 36-13.
Eastern Florida State College continued its strong play and led by 40 points after three quarters and went on to win their 40th straight conference game.
Sophomore Amelia Hassett tied the school record with 18 double-doubles this season, scoring 21 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. She announced after the game that she will attend Virginia Tech next season.
Teammate Kristiana Kulackovska scored 10 points while E'Zaria Adams had nine points, Andrea Chiquemba had eight and Silvia Otokhagua tied a season-best with seven points.
Overall, 11 players scored for Eastern Florida State College.
Carliss Johnson and Aniyah Ruddock each had eight points for St. Petersburg.
Eastern Florida State College, who has won the past 28 games at Titan Field House, will host Santa Fe College Tuesday night in a Citrus Conference game at 5:30 p.m.
