Women's basketball team faces Santa Fe Tuesday
The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team will be back at Titan Field House Tuesday for a Citrus Conference game.
The No. 8 ranked Titans will host Santa Fe College at 5:30 p.m. in a conference game. Eastern Florida State College comes into the matchup 15-0 in the conference and 20-3 overall and have won 19 straight games. Santa Fe College is 7-7 in the conference and 12-10 overall and have won two in a row.
Eastern Florida State College is led by sophomore Amelia Hassett is averaging 19.5 points and 13.3 rebounds per game this season. Hassett leads Region 8 in rebounds per game at 13.3 and 3-point percentage, shooting 42.3 percent and is tied for third in points per game. Teammates Jaidyn Koerdt and Kristiana Kulackovska are each averaging nine points per game.
Santa Fe College has a trio of players that are scoring at least 10 points per game this season led by Leyah Houston who is averaging 13.8 points and 10.3 rebounds per game. The 10.3 rebounds is third in Region 8. Shakira Chaney is scoring 14.6 points and 7.9 rebounds this season while Samari Wilson is scoring 10.3 points per game.
The Titans have won the first two meetings of the season, winning the first 97-52 and the second one on the road, 75-52. Eastern Florida State College has won 13 straight games in the series dating back to 2018-19.
