The Eastern Florida State College women's basketball team heads into the Christmas break on a winning note, defeating Indian River State College 83-57 Tuesday night at Titan Field House.
The Titans improved to 9-5 on the season and has now beaten Indian River State College five straight times and is 11-1 in the past 12 meetings.
After trailing the first six minutes of the first quarter, Isabella Lopez scored and was fouled, making the free throw to give the Titans a 16-14 lead with three minutes and 12 seconds remaining in the first quarter. Eastern Florida State College finished the first quarter on a 14-4 run to lead 25-17.
The second quarter was more of the same as the Titans outscored the Pioneers 32-12 to head into halftime with a commanding lead.
They would need it as the Pioneers took advantage of some cold shooting to outscore the Titans 22-10 in the third quarter. Taylor Jones and Sierra Votaw opened the fourth with baskets as the Titans picked up the victory.
Votaw tied her career high with 21 points and 10 rebounds for her third double double of the year. Teammate Jacquelyn Levay finished with 14 points, marking the fourth straight game she has scored at least 11 points in a game while Skye Williams had 13 points and has scored in double figures in 10 of the 11 games she has played in.
The Titans will take a short break for Christmas before competing in the South Georgia Tech Classic Dec. 29-31 in Georgia. Eastern Florida State College will be back at Titan Field House Jan. 5 against Daytona State College at 2 p.m.
