Titans Women's Basketball Loses at Home
Eastern Florida's women's basketball team suffered its fourth loss of the season on Friday, dropping an 86-41 decision to Chipola College at the Titan Field House on the Melbourne Campus.
The Titans, who earlier in the week were awarded a forfeit victory over St. Petersburg College, dropped to 2-4.
Chipola, the No. 2 ranked team in NJCAA Region 8, improved to 7-0.
Sherae Cherafant led Eastern Florida with 11 points. Barbara Johnson led Chipola with 21 while Tiaera Phillips and Sydnee McDonald scored 19 each.
Chipola led 23-10 after one quarter, 35-16 at halftime and 64-30 after three quarters.
The Titans turned the ball over 30 times, allowing 12 steals. They were outrebounded 56-33 and limited to 22.4 percent shooting from the floor (11-of-49). They shot 5-for-23 from the three-point line (21 percent) and 14-for-22 from the free-throw line.
Chipola shot 40 percent from the floor (33-for-81), 31 percent from the three-point line (6-of-19) and was 14-of-15 from the free throw line.
Next up for Eastern Florida is a 5:30 p.m. Tuesday home game against the College of Central Florida. Admission is free.
