Softball team hosts FSW in conference doubleheader Saturday
The Eastern Florida State College softball team will host No. 3 Florida Southwestern State College Saturday afternoon at Titan Softball Complex.
The Titans, who are receiving votes in the national poll, will face the Bucs in a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. Florida Southwestern is tied atop the conference standings at 16-2 while the Titans are 9-9.
Eastern Florida State College is 7-3 in their last 10 games and is one of the top hitting teams in Region VIII, hitting .374 this season as a team, while Florida Southwestern is No. 1 in team ERA with a 1.56 ERA.
The Titans are led by a trio of players hitting over .400. Jenna Borkey is hitting .447 with 29 stolen bases this season while Livie Davis is hitting .436 and has four triples. Brooke Theisen is hitting .402 with a team-leading 13 doubles.
Florida Southwestern, who is 29-3 this season, has two pitchers in the top five in the state in ERA as Esmee Ames comes in with a 1.30 ERA and Emily Allegood has a 1.49 ERA.
