The Eastern Florida State College softball team opened the Citrus Conference season Tuesday night with a couple of losses.
The Titans, who are ranked No. 16 in the NJCAA Division I poll, lost both ends of a doubleheader to No. 5 Indian River State College, 8-0 and 6-1.
Pioneers starting pitcher J'dah Girigorie tossed five scoreless innings in Game 1, allowing four hits and struck out five and then allowed one run over seven innings in the second game.
Luci Walters allowed just one earned run in the loss in Game 1 and then McKenzie Jewell took the mound for just the third time this season and pitched well in a loss in Game 2.
Eastern Florida State College will host Santa Fe College in a doubleheader at Titan Softball Complex. Thursday's doubleheader will begin at 2 p.m. and admission is free. You can watch the conference games live online at the EFSC Titans YouTube page.
